Keeperton has appointed Kate Roddy as Senior Acquisitions Editor, strengthening its US editorial team as the independent publisher continues to expand its commercial fiction programme.

Roddy will report to Christine Bendorf, Head of Acquisitions, and will acquire across commercial adult fiction, with a particular focus on identifying high-concept, highly commercial projects and developing new and emerging voices. She will also work closely with Keeperton’s international publishing, sales and marketing teams as the company continues to grow its list and presence in the US and other key markets.

Roddy joins Keeperton from Abrams, where she was most recently Senior Editor and helped develop the editorial vision and launch list for akaSTORY, the publisher’s new commercial fiction imprint.

Previously, she spent five years at Sourcebooks, where she helped launch the Cosmo Reads imprint and acquired the New York Times bestsellers How Do I Un-Remember This? and How to Piss Off Men. She is drawn to high-concept, emotionally resonant books with strong ties to pop culture.

Christine Bendorf said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Kate Roddy to Keeperton. Kate has an incredible track record of identifying books that are bold, high-concept and emotionally resonant, and that tap into the conversations readers are having right now.

Her experience building lists, launching new imprints and championing unforgettable voices makes her an especially exciting addition as Keeperton enters its next chapter of growth. I can’t wait to see the stories she discovers, the authors she champions and everything we’ll build together.”

Roddy said:

“I’m thrilled to join the Keeperton team at this important moment in their growth. I have a passion for shaping lists with compelling stories from unforgettable voices, and I especially love to find new and exciting ways to reach readers.

With Keeperton’s author-centric approach to publishing, I believe they’re on the forefront of something revolutionary in the industry — a framework that’s agile, innovative and, most importantly, protective of authors. I’m honoured to help grow the list at Keeperton and champion life-changing books together.”

The appointment comes as Keeperton enters its next stage of growth. Having established a strong position in romance publishing through its Arndell imprint, the company is expanding its commercial fiction programme while continuing to invest in acquisitions, production, marketing, publicity and international distribution.

Keeperton’s publishing model is built around close, long-term partnerships with authors, combining traditional trade publishing expertise and global distribution with a flexible, author-centric approach to rights, marketing and career development.

Roddy will commence with Keeperton on Monday, 14 September 2026 and can be reached at kateroddy@keeperton.com.
